Rally continues on earnings, global optimism 
Sensex clocks solid gains to close at 15191 (up 3.03%) amid buying in heavyweights, information technology and realty stocks.
Buoyed by global optimism and good quarterly earnings till now, the stock market opened 109 points above its previous close and zoomed to touch the early high of    
15000. The benchmark Sensex remained steady on the back of firm information technology (IT) and realty stocks. Strong support also came from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro and few other IT stocks. The Sensex touched the intra-day high of 15200 by afternoon. After exhibiting some range-bound moves, the Sensex finally closed the session at 15191, up 446 points. The broad-based Nifty also hit the high of 4510 in afternoon and added 127 points to close at 4502.

The market breadth, the number of advancing to declining shares was tipped in favour of the former. Of the 2,741 stocks traded on the BSE, 1,837 stocks advanced, whereas 832 stocks declined. 72 stocks ended unchanged. Of the 13 sectoral indices, only the FMCG index was marginally down for the day. Buoyed by stellar quarterly results of TCS, the BSE IT index surged 7.26% followed by BSE Realty (up 4.91%), BSE Teck (up 4.78%) and BSE Bankex (up 4.37%). The remaining indices also ended higher. 

Among the gainers, TCS advanced 15.34% to Rs500.10, Wipro surged 7.14% to Rs429.40, ICICI Bank added 6.01% to Rs787.10, Infosys Technologies advanced 5.66% to Rs1,972.70, DLF gained 5.38% to Rs350.75, Hindalco Industries jumped 5.05% to Rs88.45 and Reliance Industries was up 5.03% to Rs2,030.65. However, ITC dropped 1.98% to Rs225.45, Reliance Infrastructure declined 1.23% to Rs1,150 and Reliance Communications lost 1.15% to trade at Rs270. Tata Steel, HDFC, Hindustan Unilever and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries lost marginally.

Mahindra Satyam was the most traded share on the BSE with over 3.39 crore shares changing hands, followed by Reliance Natural Resources (2.39 crore shares), IFCI (1.84 crore shares) and Unitech (1.77 crore shares).
