Oilmeal exports: Paralysed

After rising for two consecutive months, oilmeal exports from India once again turned negative. Oil meal exports in November 2009 stood at 3.5 lakh tonne, almost half (~50%) of that in the comparable month of the last year (November 2008).

On similar lines, oilmeal exports in FY2009-10 till November 2009 were 44% lower than that in the comparable period of the last year. This sharp drop was mainly due to a steep dip in soybean and rapeseed meal exports that contribute more than 90% to the total oilmeal exports.
